Proposed Route Of The Grand Northern Rolling Highway
Grand Northern’s proposed route for the Rolling Highway links the M60 Manchester orbital at Bredbury, Stockport with the M1 at Tinsley, Sheffield. The route more or less follows the current road corridor comprising the M60, M67 and the A628/A616 trunks roads. The distances are virtually the same at 40 miles each way.
Locations for Eastern and Western Vehicle Shuttle Terminals
For the Western Terminus, we propose to use a Brownfield’s site adjacent to the waste recycling centre at Bredbury approximately half a mile from Junction 25 of the M60
Grand Northern are proposing to use the old Rail Marshalling Yard adjacent to Tinlsey viaduct at Junction 34 of the M1 as the location for the Eastern Terminal. Distance from the Motorway will be approximately 1 mile.
